PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool of long service life having high abrasion resistance by preventing generation of peeling and chipping of covering during a cutting process in cutting a difficult-to-cut material such as cast iron including mill scale, hard grain phase even under severe conditions. SOLUTION: This cutting tool comprises a second layer 3 including at least Al, Ti, W, and Co between a first layer 2 consisting of a single layer or a double layer of nitride, carbide, carbonitride, or carbonate nitride of titanium on a surface of a tungsten carbide-base cemented carbide base material and a third layer 4 consisting of aluminum oxide.
