PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that each method for decontaminating river water, or the like, is large-scaled, and although such method is effective for recovery of sludge precipitated and accumulated on a water bottom, it can hardly decontaminate flowing water itself of a river, a sea, or the like. SOLUTION: A water decontaminating apparatus 1 is provided with: a particulate flocculating sedimenting agent; an air compressor 2 for pressure-feeding the flocculating sedimenting agent together with air; a vertical pipe 3 which is connected with the air compressor and in which a number of air diffusion holes are bored; a bottom pipe 4 which is connected with the vertical pipe and in which air diffusion holes are bored; and an intermediate pipe 5 which is separated from the bottom pipe by an interval, is connected with the vertical pipe and in which air diffusion holes are bored. The water decontaminating apparatus 1 is disposed so as to interrupt a water stream, and further, a solid-gas mixture composed of the flocculating sedimenting agent and air is pressure-fed to form an air curtain 6 in the water stream A such as a river.
