<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive device that prevents an overvoltage from being applied to an electric load that is connected to the primary side of a voltage converter that performs voltage conversion in the failure of a DC power supply. <P>SOLUTION: A control device 30 controls inverters 14, 31 so that AC motors M1, M2 output zero output torque when detecting the failure of the DC power supply B based on a voltage Vb from a voltage sensor 10A or an temperature Tb from a temperature sensor 10B, generates signals STP1, 2, and outputs them to a boosting converter 12 and a DC-DC converter 20, respectively. The control device 30 generates signals SE of L-levels, outputs them to system relays SR1, SR2, and disconnects the system relays SR1, SR2.
