<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a refreshing mechanism for an auxiliary cleaning member and to control the re-coating quantity of toner to the surface of a drum which is arranged on the downstream side of the auxiliary cleaning member. <P>SOLUTION: In a cleaning device having an image carrier, a cleaning means arranged so as to be abutted on the image carrier and capable of removing remaining toner on the image carrier and the auxiliary cleaning member arranged in an abutted state on the upstream side from the cleaning means in the rotational direction of the image carrier and capable of removing the remaining toner on the image carrier, the abutting parts of the cleaning means and the auxiliary cleaning means on the image carrier are arranged within ±90° from the lowermost point of the gravity direction on the image carrier in the rotational direction of the image carrier so that the abutting position of the cleaning means is not overlapped to the auxiliary cleaning member in the gravity direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
