PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device in a rotary developing system which has high maintenance property so as to unnecessitate the replacement of a developer and high image productivity and is made simple and also is miniaturized. SOLUTION: The developing device possesses a rotary body 18A where a plurality of developing units 1 are mounted, an aperture 11 to allow the overflow of the developer from the developing unit positioned at a developing part, a storage chamber 13 to store surplus developer discharged from the aperture 11 and a recovery chamber 17 to recover the surplus developer from the storage chamber 13 in accordance with the rotation of the rotary body 18A.
