<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a successive shooting speed and hand shake correction precision in harmony with each other. <P>SOLUTION: A digital camera is equipped with a taking lens, an imaging device (CCD etc.), a shake detecting means of detecting a hand shake, and a control means of correcting the hand shake by relatively moving the taking lens and imaging device. In successive shooting mode wherein a plurality of images are successively photographed, the relative position relationship between the taking lens and imaging device begins to be put back to a given reference position relationship after exposing operation for a given photographed image and when a given condition is met, exposing operation or exposure preparing operation for a next photographed image is allowed even before the returning operation is completed.
