PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-density woven fabric having functionalities such as flame retardance, chemical resistance, heat retaining property, etc., a soft feeling and bulkiness suitable as a uniform for a chemical operator and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The high-density woven fabric is obtained by using a core/sheath type composite yarn composed of a crimped polyphenylene sulfide fiber yarn as a sheath yarn and has 1,500-2,500 cover factor (cover factor=(warp fineness (dtex)<SP>1/2</SP>×warp density (warps/2.54 cm))+(weft fineness(dtex)<SP>1/2</SP>×weft density (wefts/2.54 cm))).
