PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a cold rolled steel sheet through a continuous annealing process of cooling a steel strip after heating/soaking by gas jet cooling and/or roll cooling, where initial rust generated on the surface of the steel sheet under severe conditions is suppressed as possible to improve its corrosion resistance, and to provide a cold rolled steel sheet produced by the method. SOLUTION: Surface treatment consisting of a stage for removing an oxide film on the surface of a steel strip and a stage for reproducing an oxide film on the surface of the steel strip freed from the oxide film by the stage is performed on the downstream side in a continuous annealing process.
