PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sludge scraper the liability of which is improved and the equipment cost of which is reduced by changing the driving speed of the sludge scraper mechanically when the sludge scraper is moved forward or backward. SOLUTION: This sludge scraper is composed of a sludge scraping unit 4 arranged so that the unit 4 is reciprocated along the bottom 11 of a sewage treatment basin 1 to scrape sludge and a drive unit 5 for reciprocating the unit 4 while hanging and supporting the unit 4 and moving the unit 4 up and down according to the moving direction of the unit 4. The drive unit 5 is constituted of a looped guide rail 5A and a driving body 5B moving circularly along the rail 5A. A mechanical speed changing mechanism 52, 53 is arranged for changing the moving speed of the drive unit 5 so that the drive unit 5 is moved at a high speed when a load thereon is light.
