<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freely select and handle a rolled sheet as a virtual standard size paper without imposing on the user, the burden such as coming to a printing device to check a width size or the like of the rolled sheet. <P>SOLUTION: In the printing device which can supply recording papers of a roll shape by a printing instruction from a communicable host computer 120, a size in one direction of the suppliable roll shape recording paper is detected by a sensor 105A.
