PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for manufacturing a sheetlike polymer article having no flaw or bright spot and excellent as an optical use, and a method using it. SOLUTION: This belt type continuous sheet manufacturing apparatus is constituted so that a polymerizable raw material is supplied to the space, which is surrounded by the mutually opposed belt surfaces of two endless belts 1 and 1' arranged so that the mutually opposed belt surfaces of the belts travel in the same direction at the same speed, and the continuous gaskets 7, which travel in the state held by the belt surfaces, provided on both lateral side parts of the belts from one end of the space to be solidified in a heating zone along with the traveling of the belts and the sheetlike polymer article is taken out from the other end of the space. In this apparatus, the surfaces on the side coming into contact with the polymerizable raw material of two endless belts 1 and 1' are subjected to mirror surface polishing treatment so that the surface roughness Ra prescribed in JIS B0601-1994 becomes 0.1μm or below and the maximum diameter of the pinholes of the article is 250μm or below.
