PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead storage battery whose lifetime characteristics are excellent after suppressing the elongation of a grid body in the height direction caused by a repeated charging and discharging of the grid body for a storage battery by a rotary expand method, and solving the problem of a short lifetime caused by upper part short circuit. SOLUTION: This is an expand grid body for a storage battery in which a plurality of strips of intermittent slits are formed in parallel to each other on a lead alloy sheet by thrusting a cutter arranged with a plurality of convex-shaped knife blades from both sides of a Pb-Ca alloy sheet, line-shaped parts constituted by slits that are adjacent to each other in parallel are protruded in the lead alloy sheet thickness direction and plastic deformed, and the intermittent parts between the slits are cut alternately and developed as a staggered form. Parts in which the width (W) of an intersection part of an expand network is minimal (a minimal part hereinafter) are arranged in a row-shape within the range of 55% to 80% from the upper part of an expand network against the height direction of the grid body.
