OPTICAL COUPLING DEVICE FOR OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical coupling device for an optical waveguide which can reduce working loads related to positional accuracy in fixing optical components and in particular in fixing a coupling of two optical waveguides and can further reduce optical coupling loss, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The optical coupling device for an optical waveguide makes the light wave emitted from a light source or an optical waveguide for light emission incident on an optical waveguide for light incidence. This device has: a first lens 2 for collimating the light wave emitted from the light source or the optical waveguide for light emission into parallel beams; a second lens which converges the parallel beams and guides the converged beam to the optical waveguide for light incidence; and a parallel plate 10 which is inserted at least in one place between the light source or the optical waveguide for light emission and the first lens, or between the first lens and the second lens or between the second lens and the optical waveguide for light incidence, and corrects an optical axis position.
