PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid volume detecting device capable of achieving cost reduction. SOLUTION: The detecting device contains a tubular packing material 12 filled with liquid foodstuff, a detector located on a first position outside the packing material 12, a magnet located on a second position outside the packing material 12, a guide vertically extended to be placed into the packing material 12, and a float 73 set adrift on the liquid foodstuff in the packing material 12 as well as being arranged as freely movable in a vertical direction along the guide. The float 73 is provided with both a first permanent magnet 74 placed opposite to the detector, and a second permanent magnet 75 with its poles reversely placed opposite to the above magnet each other. Thus, the liquid level can be detected only by arranging these two first and second permanent magnets 74, 75 in the float 73 and one magnet outside the packing material 12.
