摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-electrode AC type gas discharge display device having an opposed discharge structure. SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of sustaining electrodes for generating sustainment discharge in a discharge space 24 is constituted of a plurality of band-like thick film conductors 52 in a conductor layer 44 provided lamellarly in a grid-like sheet member 20 arranged in parallel between a front plate 16 and a back plate 18, and those band-like thick film conductors 52 are provided with discharge surfaces 56 among which adjacent surfaces are mutually opposed to each other, thereby forming an opposed discharge structure. A dielectric coat 48 covering the band-like thick film conductors 52 is configured such that the thickness dimension in a position facing the discharge surfaces 56 opposed to each other is larger as compared with that in a position toward a writing electrode 28. Thus, between the opposed sustaining electrodes, a relatively thick portion having approximately a thickness dimension td is exclusively used for electric discharge, and, between the sustaining electrode and the writing electrode 28, a portion having a relatively thin thickness dimension ta is exclusively used for electric discharge.
