PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fairing for reducing air resistance and aerodynamic noise by closing a space between a rolling stock body and a truck, and by preventing a clearance and a level difference so as to level the surface, whereby the air resistance and the aerodynamic noise is reduced regardless of a traveling direction of a rolling stock, and durability is improved. SOLUTION: In this fairing for the railway rolling stock, an expansible fairing member is attached between the rolling stock body and the truck through an attachment member. The fairing comprises an outside sheet 1, an inside sheet 2, and a high molecular synthetic sponge body 3 arranged between the sheets. The outside sheet 1 and the inside sheet 2 are constituted by a sheet material having anisotropic elasticity wherein the elongation is low along the vertical direction and is high along the lateral direction such as knitting. The fairing member A prepared by bonding the high molecular synthetic sponge body 3 exhibiting rigidity between the outside sheet 1 and the inside sheet 2 is attached through the attachment members 4 and 5 so as to close the space between the rolling stock body B and the truck C.
