PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for culturing Cordyceps sinensis with which the content of cordycepin in the resultant cultured product can be improved. SOLUTION: The method for culturing the Cordyceps sinensis is carried out by inoculating a fungus of the Cordyceps sinensis producing the cordycepin into a liquid culture medium and stationarily culturing the fungus under conditions of≥0.06 K value which is the ratio of the surface area of the culture medium to the volume thereof represented by formula (1) K=[surface area (cm<SP>2</SP>) of the culture medium/volume (ml) of the culture medium] (1). The K value is preferably≥0.10, especially preferably≥0.20. Thereby, the cordycepin content in the resultant cultured product can remarkably be increased as compared with that of a conventional method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
