PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for promoting formation of carbon black in a reaction tube, and also to provide an apparatus for the same. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of carbon black comprises the steps of: generating a combustion gas stream by reacting a hydrocarbon fuel and a gas containing oxygen; generating carbon black by thermal decomposition or incomplete combustion of a carbonaceous raw oil after introducing the raw oil by spraying into the above combustion gas stream; terminating the reaction by introducing a cooling medium into the above generated gas stream; and separating and collecting solid portions (carbon black) from the above cooled gas stream. Further, the method is characterized by setting a heat exchange process between the above gas containing oxygen and the gas stream containing carbon black generated from the reaction terminating step on the way to the above reaction terminating step to the separating step and also by generating a pressure change in the heat exchange system by setting the position for introducing water to the gas stream at the upstream side of the system.
