A projector 1 includes a light-source device 411, a discharge duct 81 having an air intake port 81A facing the light-source device 411 and a discharge port 81B, an axial fan 82 mounted between the air intake port A and the light-source device 411 in an outer casing 2. The discharge port 81B has an opening area smaller than that of the air intake port 81A and is eccentric to the air intake port 81A. The direction of air flow from the axial fan 82 is inclined with respect to the direction of the discharge of a cooling air A from the discharge port 81B. Accordingly, when the cooling air that has cooled a light source lamp is discharged through the discharge duct 81 with the axial fan 82, the light blocking effect can be increased and the discharge pressure of the cooling air discharged can be increased.
