<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly flame-retardant resin composition which generates neither a toxic gas such as a halogen gas nor a large amount of smoke when it is incinerated, contains no phosphorous flame-retardant, can be buried in the ground, and has high flame-retardancy and heat distortion resistance enough to pass the VW-1 vertical combustion test prescribed in the UL standard 1581 and excellent mechanical characteristics such as highly flexing property, flexibility, and external damage resistance in particular, and to provide a highly flame-retardant electric wire/cable exhibiting satisfactory performances as internal/external wiring for an electric/electronic devices obtained by using the resin composition as a covering material for the electric wire/cable. <P>SOLUTION: The highly flame-retardant resin composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of a resin mixture comprising 40-70 pts.wt. of an ethylene copolymer, 20-35 pts.wt. of an acrylic rubber and 10-25 pts.wt. of a maleic acid-modified olefin resin, and is incorporated therewith, 70-130 pts.wt. of a metal hydrate, 30-70 pts.wt. of a nitrogen-containing flame-retardant and 3-8 pts.wt. of a silicone powder. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
