<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce unnatural coloring of a filter itself installed on the front face of an electronic display device under a three band fluorescent lamp. <P>SOLUTION: This filter for an electronic display device has at least one minimal value of transmittance in the visible region of wavelengths of 400 to 700 nm, the difference between the minimum transmittance (%) among the minimal transmittance values and the maximum transmittance (%) in the visible region being 10 or more. In the filter, unnatural coloring of the filter itself under the three band fluorescent lamp can be reduced by setting an absolute value of T<SB>g</SB>-0.3T<SB>b</SB>-0.7T<SB>r</SB>, ≤10, preferably ≤5, which is calculated from the average transmittance T<SB>g</SB>(%) in a range of ±15 nm of the peak wavelength of the green emission of the three band fluorescent lamp, the average transmittance T<SB>b</SB>(%) in a range of ±15 nm of the peak wavelength of the green emission of the three band fluorescent lamp, and the average transmittance T<SB>r</SB>(%) in a range of ±15 nm of the peak wavelength of the red emission of the three band fluorescent lamp. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
