<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a high definition image high in contrast and free from ghost image by removing unnecessary reflected light in an image display device using a reflection spatial optical modulating element. <P>SOLUTION: The modulated light of respective colors put together by a 4th polarization beam splitter 16 is made incident as circular polarized light on a projection lens 19 by a (λ/4) plate 18 and then reflected light from the projection lens 19 is made not to return to respective color spatial optical modulating elements 7, 11 and 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
