PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a data processing method for a local server in a multimedia data reproduction system, capable of suitably executing display, sound production and reproduction as contents suitable for reproduction performance even to a multimedia reproduction terminal having small display capacity. SOLUTION: Encoded information obtained by encoding contents information having a prescribed display level, and a decoding program for decoding the encoded information are acquired from an information database 21 opened on the Internet 30. The encoded information requiring large display capacity is converted into conversion encoded information allowing display by prescribed display capacity, and is provided onto a local area network 13 by a data server 11 together with the encoded information. A contents information reproduction terminal 12 acquires the decoding program and the encoded information fit for its own display level between those pieces of encoded information therefrom, and executes reproduction.
