CUTTING MECHANISM AND CUTTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-edge cutting mechanism capable of easily exchanging edges. SOLUTION: The cutting mechanism is adapted to be used with a strapping tool, and includes a cutter that comprises a composition of polygonal profile, a plurality of cutting surfaces that define a pair of long length cutting edges consisting of an in-use edge and a spare edge, and a plurality of recessed holders. The cutter is engaged with a movable die holder that has a support surface for a cutting body. The holder includes a slot that demarcates a plurality of protrusions. The protrusions are so constituted that the recessed holders of the cutter are fitted into the inside of the slot of the support surface. The cutter is reversible on the die holder and is so arranged that the in-use edge and the spare edge can be interchanged by the rotation of the cutter. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
