Production of tubular sealing ring for e.g. manholes, by removing parts of inner and outer periphery of ends of tube in order to join them together

The ends of the tube (25, 26) are joined together to form a ring (5) by forming a connection by removing part of the outer periphery of one end of the tube and part of the inner periphery of the other end of the tube. A method for producing a sealing ring comprises providing an inert polymer tube (24) preferably comprising PTFE, providing the tube with a given length, joining the two ends of the tube together, providing a mld with a ring-shaped cavity (23) corresponding to the closure to be sealed using the ring and heating the tube in the mold. The ends of the tube are joined together by forming a connection by removing part of the outer periphery of one end of the tube and part of the inner periphery of the other end of the tube. An independent claim is also included for a sealing ring with a tubular cross-section and comprising an inert polymer, preferably PTFE, having two ends provided with a releasable connection.
