<p>A gas bearing for rolls or rollers fitted with a fixed axle (22) around which is arranged a rotatable shell (21) comprised of one or more parts, for example segments, which shell is bearing-mounted to said axle by means of a gas bearing in which a layer of gas (23) separates the moving surfaces from each other, in which the gap (23) left between the rotating shell (21) and the axle (22) is so small, at most 0.05 mm, that the rotation motion of the shell creates an essentially selfcarrying "bed" between the rotating shell and the axle.</p> |
