PURPOSE: A CMOS image sensor having a motion detecting function and a motion detecting method are provided to output only image data of a selected pixel to reduce power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A CMOS image sensor includes a pixel array(210), a control circuit(230) for generating a control signal for controlling timing, a row select circuit(220) for selecting a row of the pixel array, a column select circuit(240) for selecting a column of the pixel array, and an A/D converter(260) for receiving the output signal of the column select circuit, converting the output signal into a digital signal and generating the first and second output signals in response to the control signal. The CMOS image sensor further includes a reference voltage generating circuit(270) for receiving the second output signal of the A/D converter and generating a reference voltage having a level varied in response to the status of the second output signal, a motion detecting circuit(280) for receiving the first output signal of the A/D converter, judging whether there is a motion and transmitting the judged result to the control circuit, and an output buffer for receiving the first output signal of the A/D converter and outputting the first output signal. |
