<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that, in a polyelectrolyte fuel cell constituted of a gas diffusion layer in which conventional carbon fiber woven fabric is used as the base material, a large pressure is locally loaded on a polyelectrolyte membrane due to roughness and fineness distribution resulting from weaving within the face of the carbon fiber woven fabric, and the polyelectrolyte membrane is broken with the passage of time, and pin holes are formed ultimately. <P>SOLUTION: As the gas diffusion layer of the polyelectrolyte fuel cell, one characterised by being constituted of the carbon fiber woven fabric and the carbon fiber nonwoven fabric is used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
