PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand position detecting mechanism free from the number of time display hands rotated independently, a hand position adjusting mechanism using the same, and an electronic timepiece using the same. SOLUTION: This hand position detecting mechanism 1 of the hand position adjusting mechanism for the electronic timepiece is provided with an hour wheel 10 provided with an hour wheel reflecting face 17 in a circumferential-directional prescribed portion in one side main face 16, a minute wheel 20 provided with a minute wheel through hole 28 arrayed on one line with the hour wheel reflecting face 17 in a circumferential-directional prescribed portion in the other one side main face 26, and provided with a minute reflecting face 27 in a position separated by a prescribed angle Dm in the circumference same to the through hole 28, a light emitting part 51 of an optical sensor 50 laid stationarily inside a case in a position near to the minute wheel compared with the hour wheel, and for emitting light toward the minute wheel 20 and the hour wheel 10, and a photoreception part 52 for receiving reflected light Lr when transmitted light Li from the light emitting part 51 is reflected from the hour wheel reflecting face 17 through the minute wheel through hole 28.
