PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earphone system in which, when the earphone units are put on one's ears, it can be easily checked which of the earphone units be used for the left or right ear and further a hanging cord for feeding stereophonic signals to the earphone system can be arranged on either side of the front of the human body. SOLUTION: The earphone system is equipped with a test signal producing means and a stereophonic signal output switching means. Based on the operation (step S2) of a reproduction key for inputting a stereophonic signal reproduction behavior start instruction of a stereophonic signal reproduction system, the test signal producing means produces test signals (step S3) to feed the signals to one of the earphone units. The stereophonic signal output switching means interchanges left and right signals of the stereophonic signal output to thereby invert the signals, and then feeds the inverted signals to the earphone units that can be used for both of the right and left ears when the reproduction key is continuously operated more than once (step S7).
