PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of making constant the hitching amount of recording sheet at separator pawls by minimizing the separating width of the flapper end from a snubber stopping part regardless of the residual amount of recording sheet and irrespective of the maximum stacking amount of the sheet. SOLUTION: The sheet feeder 10 is equipped with a flapper 5 to support the recording sheet 1a and installed rotatably round a rotational fulcrum shaft 13, a sheet feed roller 7 to send out the recording sheet 1a stacked on the flapper 5, a spring 9 to energize the flapper 5 to the feed roller 7, and separator pawls 6a, 6a to separate one by one the sheets 1a sent out of the flapper 5. The separator pawls 6a, 6a are installed in such a way as interlocking with the rotation of the flapper 5 and arranged so that the rotating direction of the flapper 5 and that of the pawls 6a, 6a are opposing.
