An alarm device including a sensor having sufficiently high detection sensitivity is provided. The sensor 51 in the alarm device 41 is disposed such that a plan M perpendicular to the detection direction P of the sensor 51 is aligned at a specified angle theta with respect to a plane V perpendicular to the sun visor 72 (the lower surface 61a), where the specified angle theta should be set to be an approximately mean value of the expected minimum angle gamma=0° and the expected maximum angle gamma=40° (in this case, theta=20°). In other words, the plane M perpendicular to the detection direction P of the sensor 51 should be aligned at an angle alpha (alpha=90° -theta) of less than 90° with respect to the sun visor 72 (the lower surface 61a). The present invention is applicable to such an alarm device mounted onto a vehicle for preventing the vehicle theft.
