PURPOSE: A method of transmitting media data between apparatuses connected to each other through a home network is provided to transmit/receive the media data stored in the apparatuses using data indicating the position where the media data is stored. CONSTITUTION: A media data processing apparatus matches media data lists with indicators indicating a position where each media data is stored, transmitted from a media data providing apparatus, one to one and stores the media data lists and the indicators. When a user selects specific media data(S403), the indicator corresponding to the specific media data is transmitted to a corresponding home network apparatus while requesting the corresponding media data. The media data providing apparatus receives the request and detects the media data indicated by the indicator to transmit the media data to the media data processing apparatus(S404,S406).
