PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high octane number gasoline by heightening the octane number of a≥4C hydrocarbon mixture through isomerization. SOLUTION: There is provided a process for selective isomerization of≥4C paraffins using a catalyst comprising mixed aluminum, tungsten and zirconium oxides, and a hydrogenation/dehydrogenation component, such as palladium or other group VIII metals.
