PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless data communication method capable of optimizing the throughput of an entire wireless transmission system even in the case of packet data transmission in the wireless transmission system wherein a bad radio wave propagation state may exist. SOLUTION: In the wireless data communication method, a statistic distribution of optimum transmission rates with respect to a transmission environment of a wireless channel is investigated in advance when the wireless channel is used to transmit packet data; selecting a transmission rate initial value in the transmission environment among a plurality of predetermined signal transmission rates, and the selected transmission rate initial value is decided on the basis of a result of the investigation and information with respect to a traffic volume at that point of time; and the communication propriety at a transmission rate initial value or at the selected transmission rate lower than the transmission rate initial value is judged prior to transmission of the data packet from a transmission station; and the data packet from the transmission station is transmitted at a transmission rate judged as communicable.
