摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a reverse direction read-out mode and the other read-out mode to be combined with each other on a small circuit scale in a device for controlling read-out addresses of a CMOS type image pickup device. SOLUTION: The forward direction address generating circuit 21 always executes counting operations in the forward direction regardless of the forward direction and the reverse direction. The difference between a count value AD200 which is from a subtraction circuit 201 and the forward direction address generating circuit 21, and an initial value ADmax is taken. The difference is outputted as an address AD201. A switch 204 respectively selects the AD200 when it is in the forward direction read-out mode and the AD201 when it is in the reverse direction read-out mode. The address designation corresponding to special read-out modes such as a thinning read-out mode and an addition read-out mode sets a common value to the forward direction address generating circuit 21 both in the forward and reverse directions. The correspondence to the specific address designation is taken by setting an address corresponding to the designation of a dummy row and the read-out prohibition to one input of switches 206, 208.
