PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid injection device which can more effectively remove adhering substances of a liquid injection head, and can shorten a time for wiping a lower face of the liquid injection head. SOLUTION: A printer includes a recording head 20 with nozzles for ink discharge formed thereat, a carriage 17 which moves back and forth while carrying the recording head 20, and a wiping material 30 which slides while deflecting the moving recording head 20 at a wiping position. The printer also has a maintenance motor and a power transmission mechanism for moving the wiping material 30 back and forth between the wiping position and a retreat position where the wiping material is prevented from butting against the recording head 20. The wiping material 30 has a wiping body 32 set at one side face 30a to wipe a nozzle opening face 20a. The wiping body 32 wipes the nozzle opening face 20a at the same time as when the wiping material 30 is deflected at the wiping position and its leading end 30d slides on the nozzle opening face 20a.
