A display panel in which characteristics of an EL element can be prevented from deteriorating when solder is employed as the material of an adhesive layer arranged at a sealing part between a substrate and the protruding part on the periphery of a sealing plate. An organic EL element (100) as an EL display panel comprises a substrate (10) of alkaline-free glass, an organic EL laminate (20) formed on the substrate (10), and a sealing plate (30) formed to cover the organic EL laminate (20). The sealing plate (30) has a protruding part (31) formed on the peripheral part of a central recess (32), and the organic EL laminate (20) comprises a conductive film (21) of ITO film formed on the substrate (10), an organic EL laminate film (22) formed on the upper surface of the conductive film (21), an upper transparent electrode (23) formed on the upper surface of the organic EL laminate film (22), and a lead-out electrode (24) being connected with the upper transparent electrode (23). At a part of the substrate (10) facing the peripheral protruding part (31) of the sealing plate (30), a surface treatment layer (40) is formed by applying sol or gel SiO2. |
