PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically remove dew condensate on a surface of a translucent case to detect a liquid volume with high reliability. SOLUTION: In this liquid volume detector provided with a sensor 1 having a light emitting part 1a for emitting light toward the translucent case 2, and a light receiving part 1b for receiving the light via the case 2, and for detecting the liquid volume in the translucent case 2, based on a light reception level in the light receiving part 1b, the translucent case 2 is provided with a heating means (heater 7) for heating a portion through which the light emitted from the light emitting part 1a passes.
