PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face authentication apparatus which can almost surely cause the line of sight of an object person point slightly downward at imaging. SOLUTION: Since an imaging lens 10a of a camera 10 is located in a way of being hardly visible by an authentication object person and a dummy lens 20 clearly viewed by the authentication object person is placed under the imaging lens 10a, this provision can give an illusion to the object person as if the dummy lens 20 were the imaging lens of the camera 10. Thus, the line of sight of the authentication object person can be attracted downward at imaging, and an image for imaging the object person whose line of sight is directed slightly downward, that is, the image less affected by the reflection of illumination lighting up the authentication object person can be obtained.
