PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless access system capable of providing a communication quality guaranteed by a system by receiving a signal from a subscriber station equipment at a base station equipment and measuring a frame error rate (FER), performing transmission power control based on the frame error rate, and reducing a load pertaining to transmission power control on the base station equipment side even under a high speed communication environment, thereby rationalizing transmission power from the subscriber station equipment and enhancing transmission quality. SOLUTION: The base station equipment 1 receives a signal from an arbitrary subscriber station equipment 2 and measures a frame error rate, and then converts the measurements into a digital value being transmitted to the subscriber station equipment 2 while being included in an ordinary downlink frame. The subscriber station equipment 2 prestores a specified frame error rate and a transmission power limit value and regulates the transmission power within the range of the limit value such that the frame error rate satisfies a specified value.
