PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit and receive personal information data when chatting. SOLUTION: When a user selects the personal information to be transmitted to a chat party from an operation screen when chatting, a format transformation section 104 acquires personal data of the user from a personal information database 103 to transform the personal data into a vCard format. A chat mail preparation section 105 prepares chat mail based on the personal data transformed into the vCard format and an IP (Internet Protocol) address informed from a server. A transmission and reception section 106 transmits the prepared chat mail to the chat party. In a reception mode, when a chat mail analysis section 107 determines that the received chat mail supplied from the transmission and reception section 106 is of the vCard format and, the section 107 supplies the received chat mail to a registration section 108. The registration section 108 registers the personal data included in the received chat mail on the personal information database 103. The present invention is applicable to a cellular telephone.
