VARIABLE SPEED MECHANISM IN SLUDGE SCRAPER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the variable speed mechanism in a sludge scraper constituted so as to achieve the enhancement of reliability and the reduction of an equipment cost by mechanically changing over the drive speeds at the times of advance and retreat of the sludge scraper at a preset definite position without using a sensor or an inverter. SOLUTION: The sludge scraper is constituted so that a sludge scraping-up device 4 which reciprocates along the bottom of a sewage treatment tank 1 is moved at a low speed in a sludge scraping-up forward direction and at a high speed in a return direction by a pin rack type drive device. The drive device is constituted so as to drive the sludge scraping-up device 4 over the predetermined high speed moving section of the sludge scraping-up device 4 while changing a variable speed ratio by a mechanical variable speed mechanism.
