PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce friction loss without the deteriorating durability of a timing gear and the durability of an oil seal. SOLUTION: A water jacket 35 is arranged adjacent to a gear chamber 11, and a cooling water from an engine cooling water circuit 50 is made to flow in the water jacket 35 to assist the temperature rising of a gear oil at such as worming up, thereby promptly the reducing viscosity of the gear oil to predetermined viscosity. Accordingly, even when the gear oil having high viscosity at a low temperature area is adopted as the gear oil used for a roots-type compressor 1, the friction loss due to the gear oil can be promptly reduced. By adopting the gear oil having high viscosity at the low temperature area, the gear oil is prevented from being of excessively low viscosity at a high temperature area, thereby enhancing the durability of the timing gear and the durability of the oil seal.
