A warming/chilling apparatus according to the invention, in particular for a pain treatment unit, comprises a heating device 3 and a cooling device 5 for alternately heating and cooling a heating/cooling element 1 to a high and a low temperature respectively. The heating device 3 and the cooling device 5 are designed and arranged relative to each other in such a way that the change between the high and the low temperature is possible within three minutes and the temperature difference between the high and the low temperatures is at least 40° C.
