NEW GENE PRESENT IN HUMAN LEUKOCYTE ANTIGEN REGION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new gene present in an HLA (human leukocyte antigen) region and a polypeptide encoded with the gene and to provide a method for producing the same and uses thereof.

SOLUTION: Prediction of an expression sequence of a genomic sequence of the HLA region is carried out by using a computer program and homology search for a base sequence of the region except a repetitive sequence is made by using a database. Thereby, the expression sequence having a high possibility of the presence of a functional gene in the HLA region is found. A primer is designed on the basis of information about the predicted expression sequence to carry out a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) using a human lung cDNA library as a template to determine the base sequence of the resultant amplification product. As a result, the objective gene is isolated.
