<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerizable composition satisfying high sensitivity, excellent preservation stability and high printability and suitable as a plate material for lithographic printing directly making plates from digital data such as a computer by recording with solid laser and semiconductor laser beams radiating especially ultraviolet rays, visible rays and infrared rays and to provide compounds used therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The compounds are represented by general formula (I) [wherein, Z<SP>1</SP>denotes H or CH<SB>3</SB>; Z<SP>2</SP>denotes H, CH<SB>3</SB>or a CHR<SP>b</SP>X<SP>1</SP>(X<SP>1</SP>denotes a substituted oxy group, a substituted amino group or a substituted thio group; and R<SP>b</SP>denotes a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group); R<SP>1</SP>denotes an aliphatic hydrocarbon connecting group; R<SP>2</SP>denotes an (m+n)-valent aliphatic hydrocarbon connecting group; and m and n denote each an integer of 1-5] and general formula (II) (wherein, X<SP>2</SP>denotes a substituted oxy group, a substituted amino group or a substituted thio group; and R<SP>a</SP>denotes a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group).
