PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for liquefaction of waste plastics containing polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
SOLUTION: A slaked lime powder 12 is thrown into a degradation vessel 3 together with a waste plastics as raw materials 13 and the temperature of the mixture is raised gradually while stirring at a rate of not more than 150°C/h within a range of 150-250°C and concentration of the slaked lime in the molten polyvinyl chloride is accelerated in the first place and then a chlorine gas evolved by the fist decomposition (dechlorinating decomposition) of molten polyvinyl chloride, which arises above a temperature of about 200°C, is caught by the slaked lime. Because a size of a slaked lime grain is large; generally 1-10μ, the calcium chloride evolved by capture of chlorine stays in the degradation vessel together with the slaked lime grain (fixing action of a slaked lime grain) and also terephthalic acid, which is evolved by the second stage degradation of polyethylene terephthalate next to that of polyvinyl chloride, and benzoic acid, which is evolved by degradation of terephthalic acid, are caught by the slaked lime and stay in the vessel.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
|
