PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a resin molding having excellent appearance in improved mold release characteristics, with which a protective coating film composed of a silica-based composition is preformed in the inside of a template, then a resin molding raw material is injected into the template, polymerized and cured and demolded from the template to give the resin molding having the protective coating film with excellent abrasion resistance and adhesivity to a substrate. SOLUTION: The silica-based composition comprising (a) a hydrolyzate of an organoalkoxysilane, (b) a hydrolyzate of a silane coupling agent containing a double bond group in the molecule, (c) either or both of a hydrolyzate of a phenylalkoxysilane and a hydrolyzate of an alkylalkoxysilane and (d) colloidal silica is applied to at least a part of the inside of the template, heated and cured to form the protective coating film and the (meth)acrylic resin molding raw material is injected into the template and polymerized.
