Snorkel device (21) for a submarine comprises a fresh air line (2), a waste air line (3), and a head unit (1) moving in and out of the submarine tower and having an outer tube (6) with an inner fresh air pipe (4) and an inner waste gas pipe (5). The upper peripheral region of the outer tube is provided with a number of lateral waste gas outlets (8) arranged in the outer tube below the upper end (9) of the inner fresh air pipe, and/or the upper end (10) of the inner waste gas pipe has an upward-acting waste gas accelerating device.
